Ten-year-old Jerry Pye and his sister Rachel buy a smart fox terrier named Ginger for a dollar. Soon after, a mysterious man in a yellow hat starts following the dog. When Ginger is stolen on Thanksgiving, the family works together to track him down and bring him home.
